Only this book was much better than the previous one I wrote about here. I just finished reading The Last Stand of the Tin Can Soldiers by James D. Hornfischer. It was amazing. 400 pages about one day. An amazing battle by a very few small ships in the Pacific, against considerably more and larger Japanese fleet. Probably the best show of force and courage and determination in the Navy's history, but it got very little attention or publicity back in the '40's because it should have been an easy battle except for the actions of an American commander who took his fleet North the day or two before (not fully following orders) and did not return in time to help. Anyways, that did the book absolutely no justice, but it was amazingly well written and covered in great detail what happened on the 25th of October in 1944. I was hooked at any rate.
